In any event I am just wondering if there is a way to transfer these
files after I receive the cable? I am asking, as I have always done
this at startup.

If you have an ethernet cable lying around, use that. It will work too.

You will get better results by using Setup Assistant instead of
Migration Assistant. Setup Assistant is what you will be prompted with
when you first turn on your MacBook Pro. Just connect the two computers
with an ethernet cable and follow the instructions.

Trying to use Migration Assistant, which is what you will need to do if
you answer "later" to setup assistant, can produce problems; such as
more user accounts than you wanted to have, with your files transferred
to the wrong account. It can be a headache to sort out.
