Re: Opening files over the (smb) network in 10.6

That's odd, I should have full privileges on the smb shares. I can copy things in and out of it.

thanks for the reply though

Hi all,

I recently upgraded MacOS X from 10.5.xxx to 10.6. Most things run fine, but then i tried to open a pdf over the network. I got returncode -36. I tried to access other things as well, starting an applicaton the same way also resulted in -36. The files itself are ok. When I copy them over to the Mac, and then open them everything works fine....

Any ideas?

TIA

I've just opened up several files over the network, including a .PDF, a .RTF, a .DOC, and a .JPG. No problems. OS X 10.6.1 on the Mac, Vista Home Premium on the WinBox.

-36 is an i/o error. It might be that you don't have write privileges on that network volume. Check how it is shared. Or just disconnect and reconnect and see if the problem goes away.
