Re: LogitechForceFeedback.kext

I did mention the problem as one we discussed some time ago:

Are you currently using
a Logitech device?

An old MouseMan Optical. I installed it when the scroll ball on my Mighty
Mouse became impossible to clean. Apple subsequently did, however, replace
the mouse. Since then, and since trying (but discarding) USB Overdrive and
SteerMouse, MM's 3rd & 4th buttons no longer work. (We had this discussion
before.)

The problem remains: the 3rd & 4th buttons on my MM don't work. And I don't
know why -- it seems to be independent of the presence (or lack thereof) of
the Logitech software: the Logitech mouse works without installing the LCC
software, though it doesn't offer much beyond scrolling and clicking without
the LCC installation; it apparently doesn't need the
LogitechForceFeedback.kext either...it "vanished" from my
/System/Library/Extensions folder months ago.

Okay, so you have an ongoing problem with your MouseMan optical, and
rather than say you're looking for general help in solving that problem,
you post with a subject specifically asking about the presence of
absence of a specific .kext file? I seriously don't know how you expect
anyone to understand what you're looking for from that.

Or are you and Howard Brazee having some sort of competition to see who
can be the most indirect in asking for help without having people ignore
you entirely or killfile you? ;-)

Moreover, on one of my external drives (used solely to run TechTool Pro and
DiskWarrior) I'm running the original OS that came with my current machine
(10.5.2); it has (by default) the LogitechForceFeedback.kext installed
(Apple included it, beginning with 10.2.2), and I have no problem using
either mouse (or both, simultaneously) when booting to that drive.

What happens when you log in to a different user account on your
internal drive? Does the problem remain?
