Okay, that's dragging, so I guess that's what he was doing. He used the
word _copy_, though, so that's what I tried. With copying and pasting,
you get just the file names, which is also what he specifically said,
not that what he said is necessarily what he meant.

It seems to me that i was copying, not dragging...
i only drag within documents, although i know that it is possible, to
drag & drop within applications...

OK... i just tried it again...
In Rich Format with Images; Copy & Paste Results in The Images
of .jpg's being copied to the TextEdit Document; And Files & Document;
The Icons are Transferred...
Drag & Drop results in the same thing...
i am using an intermediate copy tool... PTHPasteboard...
But the basic problem existed before that though...

The solution is to use plaintext in TextEdit...
i wasn't able to get any combination to copy the full directory paths
though...???
( in Unix mode...??? what did that mean...??? )

Crazy Ass Computers...!!! Gawd how i hate them...!!!
