Examine the system log and see what error messages, if any, are posted
there *around the time of the symptoms*.

JR,

Here is the copied data from the system log almost the exact time to the
second when the computer was hung up. Does it help? If not are there other
logs that could provide important information? Thanks again in advance for
your advice!

I'd try disabling Mcafee and see if that helps. BTW - unless you're in a
corporate environment or passing along lots of potentially infected
Windows files to other Windows users, you don't need an anti-virus for
the Mac.

Mac antivirus software strikes yet again.

As Jamie suggests, this software is not only unnecessary, it's
well-known for causing more problems than it solves - which is why I
don't recommend running it on a Mac. IME, Mac antivirus software is some
of the most shoddily-written, bug-ridden software on the planet. My
personal opinion is that Mac users are not obligated to help Windows
users protect themselves.
