As for Nick's issues... well all I can think of is to nuke MacSOUP's
prefs, setting file - everything actually (cause it's not like you've
got a lot to lose, right?), recreate his settings and groups, and give
that a try. MacSOUP has few preferences (not counting the killfile and
email filters) so isn't hard to setup again in just a couple minutes.

If that works I will be just as surprised though - it really is hard to
corrupt MacSOUP's prefs and settings. I've only managed once in ten
years.

I've also been using MacSOUP for 10 years, and I don't think I've had to
fix it even once.

I'll try to "reset them." But, based on what you both are saying, I won't
hold my breath.

Well, I discovered the problem.

If you look at the number of "?" that appear in the NNTP Password field in
<http://img523.imageshack.us/my.php?image=macsoupsettingsmo1.png> and
compare it to the number in
<http://img523.imageshack.us/my.php?image=macsoupsettingsmo1.png>,

Ooops! I accidentally repeated the URL for the same image...I meant to
reference this:
<http://img103.imageshack.us/my.php?image=motzarellanewsaccountsenk5.png>

you'll
see that they differ by one. In other words, _somehow_ between the time I
initially set up MacSoup and yesterday, an extra character was inserted in
the NNTP Password field (and based on your assertions that MacSoup's prefs
rarely become corrupted, the most likely candidate is _me_ -- though I can't
imagine how it even _could've_ happened).

I re-entered the correct password, and it now works. So, now I can return to
focusing on trying to figure out how to use MacSoup...which is the _real_
challenge (for me)!

(Thanks for your patience while I muddle ...)
