Thunderbird must use more than the subject header, because it doesn't
merely get them in the right thread, it gets replies shown to the
correct predecessor.
Even replies to killfiled folks seem to be connected properly, though
to the next prior. That is, if B is a response by the hammer to A
and C is a response to B by an otherwise reasonable person, Thunderbird
always shows C as if it were a reply to A.
It could use a combination of references and subjects.
