Re: Applications directory permissions

Can someone do

ls -alh / | grep App

That seems like a weird way to do:

ls -ldh /Applications

and post the results?

My Applications directory is suddenly demanding authentication every
time I want to move something there; this screws up automatic updates
(Azureus even told me so).

Mine looks like this:

drwxr-xr-x+ 131 root wheel 4.3K Dec 2 16:34 Applications/

Mine looks like this:

drwxrwxr-x+ 100 barmar barmar 3.3K Nov 29 04:31 /Applications

I'm not sure how it got set to my personal group. I just set up this
iMac a few weeks ago, using Migration Assistant to copy from my previous
machine. And that machine was configured using Migration Assistant from
a previous machine where my account was an admin account. So I suspect
this is got carried over from that old machine.

I did a permissions repair, and it complained "ACL found but not
expected" for /Applications and /Library, but it didn't fix them. They
look like:

drwxrwxr-x+ 100 barmar barmar 3400 Nov 29 04:31 /Applications
0: group:everyone deny delete
drwxrwxr-t+ 58 root admin 1972 Oct 25 14:06 /Library
0: group:everyone deny delete

I'm doing the following to fix the permissions of everything in
/Applications:

chown -R root:admin /Applications
