Hi all

I am posting this message, as I have PowerBook(the last model ever
made by Apple before the switch to Intel Chips) that seems to have
gotten very slow when trying to surf the internet or read e-mail.
Right now I am posting this message from a newer Mac Mini that is
sharing the same DSL connection via Apple Airport, as used by the
PowerBook and I am able to surf the internet at normal speed using
this computer. Just wondering if anyone would know what would cause
the other computer to become, so slow when surfing the internet or
reading my e-mail.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice

Maybe it is the malware that is going around.

Go to versiontracker.com and look for dnschanger (I think)

To see if my dns ips were normal, I went to Network in my System
Preferences (Tiger). I got a repeating popup saying "Your network
settings have been changed by another application."

I had to force-quit System Preferences to escape. Macfixit says this
results from a bug in the latest security update for Tiger. Maybe
cloning my HD woke the bug.

I found a "Work around" for this bug. You just click on the "OK" in
the PopuP, and then BEFORE the PopUp has a chance to reappear, click
on the "Assist Me" button on the Network Page, then click on "Cancel",
and you should be at the Main Network Page without the BUggy Dialog.
