I assume you're talking about sending email from your .Mac/MobileMe
account using a web browser, right?
Because I can select my outgoing mail server from any valid email
account that I have, and have been able to do it for years using
Mail.app.
I almost never use .Mac/MobileMe email from a browser, partly for that
reason and because Mail.app works perfectly well, certainly in that
respect.
