Isn't the Wi-Fi 54 MBps ? If the alleged limit of ten devices are
all going full speed, the 540 MBps is even faster than Verizon

I missed the original post but ethernet, wired or wireless, can only
carry one conversation at a time. Whatever the limit on the number of
nodes that an AirPort has, aggregate bandwidth of the nodes isn't it.

Also, in response to hh above, this has been an eye-opening experience for me.
I stopped into the Verizon FiOS shop again yesterday and asked just a couple
of basic questions (like, how do I keep the wireless network secure and how
would I add additional wireless computers to the network?) and sales reps
just didn't have a clue. One of them actually told me "It's a tekky thing."

It could also be they recognize that you aren't all that familiar with
the concepts and are skirting the issue rather than taking time to
educate you.
