Help - remote access problem to Windows email server

Hi,

I'm a Mac guy trying to get a couple of iMacs (mine and my daughter's to
remotely access her employer's Windows email server). She uses both
iMacs located at two locations, mine runs OS X 10.5.3 and her's 10.3.9.
Her employer's IT tech folks are not Mac savvy, all they can give her
are the instructions to set up a PC at home running Windows:

1. Go to Tools- Internet Options, click Privacy Tab and unselect
?Block pop-ups¹ and click ?Apply¹

2. Now click the ?Security¹ Tab and select ?Trusted sites¹ icon
and click the ?Sites?¹ button. Uncheck the box that says ?Require server
verification (https for all sites in this zone¹ and type the following
in the entry box https://secure.XXXXX, click ?OK¹ button.

3. Now click the ?Advanced¹ Tab, click ?Restore Defaults¹ and
click ?OK¹ button.

4. Now you can go to the web site https://secure.XXXXX, you will
be prompted with a certificate security warning so just click Continue.
When prompted for username and password enter your network information.
(Same that you use at work, answer yes to all prompts indicating
installing applications.

5. You will be presented with an opening screen and a link labeled
?Outlook Web Access¹ Click on it to access e-mail.

-----
I've tried several (obvious?) things in the Network prefs
(Advanced/proxies and Safari 3.1.1 on my iMac but nothing works,
including unblocking pop-ups and entering her username and password in
the Proxies option.) The XXXXX in the urls above replace the actual
server name for this post. Funny thing is that she had remote access
from both Macs a month ago but then suddenly couldn't gain access,
nothing was changed on the Mac side. When it did work no entries had
been made in the Proxies area, when I now clear out any Advanced/proxies
entries there is still no access other than this msg from the email
server:

'You do not have permission to login. Please contact your administrator.'

So with or without Network entries there is no access, I'm guessing that
the WINS option in Network prefs/Advanced/WINS may need to be populated,
but don't have that info. Bottom line is I don't know enough about the
Advanced entries, including proxies, in the Network system preference to
resolve this issue all I have are the 5 steps above.

Any Windows savvy person out there that can shed light on this problem?

TIA
--
The Guy
