I'm not using NewsWatcher 3.5.3b2. I'm using NewsWatcher 3.5.2. But I would
imagine things like setting up the right news server are the same. Here's
what you should do:
(1) Go to the Special menu.
(2) Select "News Servers".
(3) Click on "Server Options".
(4) In the Server Address field, type "news.telus.net" (without the
quotation marks).
(5) The Port field will probably read "119". Leave it that way, or change it
to that if it is different.
(6) Check the "Use XOVER command to get article headers" option.
(7) Leave the other options unchecked.
(8) The Connections field will probably read 4 concurrent connections. If
not, change it to that.
(9) Click OK.
I wonder if this person needs to check the secure connection box under
the server name? Many high speed bandwidth connections require that
now, whereas dial-up connections were parsed internally before heading
out on the open net and so their streams were direct from server to
phone connection.
Can't help you with Mail, which is an e-mail program, not a news reader. I
use Eudora for e-mail and dislike Mail about as much as I dislike most news
readers other than NewsWatcher.
Ah, a kindred spirit. I, too, prefer Eudora over Mail, and have always
been an MT-Newswatcher user.
