Trouble with MT-Newswatcher

I live in Vancouver, Canada and my ISP is Telus. My access to usenet
is also via Telus. About a year ago I decided to move to a later
version of MT-NW. After I installed it, the application would not
opened. I contacted Telus support but I had trouble getting some who
could help me with Mac support. When I finally was connected to
someone who claimed that he could help me, it turned out that he
didn't know anything about MT-NW. We ended up messing with the
settings of Mail.app and the settings of MT-NW. That didn't help.

I then decided to read newsgroups through Google, but I couldn't stand
Google,so I just stopped reading newgroups. I've recently decided to
try again, so I downloaded the current version, 3.5.3b2 and installed
it. So far so good, but when I clicked on Show Full Group List, I
found in the menu, the Front Window's Server greyed out and an active
mail.telus.net. When I clicked on that, I received a message saying,
"Could not open connection to news server on host "pop.telus.net" with
the various possible causes why I got the error message. I then
clicked on the OK button and that gave me a the message except this
time I couldn't connect to new server "mail.telus.net". At this point
I clicked on the Try Again button and that threw me back to the can't
connect to pop.

I can't figure out what I should do. I could go again through the hell
of Telus Support and being finally told, that it's not their problem,
that it's not their job to help me configure a new reader and maybe I
should contact Apple Support. That's assuming that even get someone
who can help me with Mac. I wonder if someone in this group can help
me out with the right settings for Mail.app and/or MT-NW.

I'm composing this in Google Groups -- I still don't like it and I
wish that I could get back getting to usenet through the newreader.
