The OLPC certainly won't stay alone. All companies are now ready to

MacBooks fare under the pressure?
I think you're a bit confused. The OLPC and others of its ilk are ultra
portable laptops, not what are normally considered UMPCs. The MacBook
has nothing to do with either market. You should be looking at the
iPhone/iPod touch when it comes to needing a small device to do
dedicated tasks. I have an OLPC and, while it is very nice, most people
are going to be better served by what Apple offers, especially after the
SDK ships.
You'll notice many of those manufacturer are asian MoBo manufacturers.
Price wise, they're hard to beat. But Dell and HP are joining in... So,
where's Apple future, with its high margins?
Rolling in dough, by the looks of it. What exactly are you expecting to
do with some cheap $400 laptop that you can't do with a cheap $400 iPod
touch? The only reason PC shops are excited about tiny laptops is
because they can't make Microsoft ship a touch interface OS that matches
Apple's. I mean, did you *see* that Windows 7 demo struggling on even
high-end hardware? You think Apple doesn't have a product, but the
reality is that they've already won.
