Why do only newly-created JPGs and PNGs in a Leopard Finder window
display the resolution but not images that were created in Tiger,
Panther, Jaguar or Puma?  Of course, this rule isn't always true --
sometimes by clicking/unclicking "Show Item Info" in "Show View
Options" will fix this on some images but not all.  The image
resolution is hardly OS-dependent so why is Leopard so lame?

I can't seem to reproduce the symptoms you're describing.

Can you give *exact* steps to reproduce the problem?

I open a Finder window with any number of images that were created
before I upgraded to Leopard. Most such folders (for me) were already
set to display the resolution (e.g. 1024x768 in blue) below the
filename in icon view. However, even though "Show Item Info" in
"Show View Options" is checked, Leopard does not display the
resolution. When I download a new image (either from my camera or via
the net), the image resolution does display. Because of what you
report and because the same symptoms do not appear on my office Mac (I
wrote the original post from my home Mac), I'm guessing that this is
possibly a ~/Library/Preferences/*.plist problem. But which plist to
delete?

com.apple.finder.plist ???

First things first:

1. Does the problem last through a logout?

2. Does the problem last through a restart?

3. Have you run Disk Utility's "Verify Disk" function to verify the hard
drive on which the pictures reside is not in need of repair?

4. Does the problem happen in another Mac OS X user account?
