In theory, folks will tell you that good best practice is to run from a
user account.
In practice, not a big deal. There is at present exactly one piece of
Mac malware in circulation: OSX/RSplug.A -- and running in a user
account will not protect you from it. It's a Trojan horse that pretends
to be a movie player CODEC, and tries to trick the user into installing
it. It can not be installed without a password, regardless of how you
are logged in, and if you log in as a user and are foolish enough to
fall for it, being logged in as user won't save you.
So it depends. In a theoretical sense, some folks do make a religion out
of the notion that you must not use the administrator account daily. In
a practical sense, the risk in doing so is negligible.
