The best thing to do would have been to disconnect the keyboard *immediately* after the spill occurred so that power was no longer applied to the (probably wet) electronic components. Apparently you didn't do that? At any rate, the damage is done.

The fact that only four keys don't work suggests to me that there is no damage.

The reason the keys don't work is either the electronics short circuited, or there is so much sugar inside of the contacts that they no longer conduct electricity.

I think a short would cause characters to type without depressing keys. It sounds like something insulating the contacts, but I don't know what ingredient in diet soda would insulate.

If the latter is the cause, you might salvage the keyboard
by disassembling it and washing component parts in warm slightly soapy water. Otherwise, I see a new keyboard in your future. ; )

If you can figure out how to get the top off, a lot of times the keys will come off with the cover. (That saves the effort of remembering which key goes where.

I'd expect to find a rubbery sheet between the keys and the board with the printed conductors. I'm surprised soda got under the sheet and affected just four keys so far apart. I'd rinse the rubber sheet and wipe the board with a damp cloth.

The only time I had keys that wouldn't type came when a spot on the board developed a rusty stain months after my last (remembered)spill. I polished it up and surfed another 100,000 miles.

If Susie-Q turns out to be a troll, I want to say now that I'm not her sock puppet.
