BASIC FUNCTION:
Designs, installs, configures and manages complex Microsoft LANs,
Wireless LANs, WANs, Sans, routers, servers, switches, phone system,
VMWare VI software and workstations. Creates and manages documentation
for network topology. Determines, installs and manages network
equipment, software patches and upgrades. Performs as backup to
Security Administrator when Security Administrator not available.
Performs a variety of monitoring, tracking, maintenance, evaluation,
installation, troubleshooting and training tasks to optimize network
utilization and to enable users to maximize productivity. Possesses
superior communication skills with ability to communicate succinctly
and diplomatically. Must type a minimum of 40 WPM and possess a high
degree of organization with superior writing and grammatical skills.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
* Promotes a clean, safe, healthy and friendly work environment for
employees and guests; report and direct safety issues to Safety
Committee
* Coordinates network administration and performance tasks with
management and other department members
* Identifies, analyzes and documents long-range network requirements
* Responsible for ensuring and validating all Server backups and
determining best backup methodology
* Responsible for design, installation, support and functionality of
all LAN, WAN and Wireless networks
* Responsible for timely patch management solutions for hardware and
software systems
* Extensive knowledge configuration and administration of managed
switches
* Extensive experience working with MS active directory, group
policies, creating and editing objects
* Recommends, tracks, implements and documents network procedures,
patches and upgrades
* Knows how to configure Active Directory and LDAP to authenticate
user credentials
* When Security Admin absent reviews security on internal applications
to verify that unauthorized users are excluded
* Works with and performs network updates or changes recommended by
the Security Administrator
* Backs up the Security Administrator position when the Security
Administrator is not available
* Troubleshoots and configures Casino phone networks and servers to
support client workstations and phones
* Responsible for management and implementation of patches, upgrades
and fixes for Servers, PC's and software
* Familiarity with the next generation of IP addressing (extending IP
address range)
* Enters work estimates and progress into the IT Service Order System
(SOS) to track all work done at the Casino
* Provides updates, status, and project completion information to IT
Help Desk and IT Director in a timely manner
* Recommends or performs proactive actions to prevent problems
* Assists PC Technician troubleshooting issues when they can not
resolve or as directed by Management
* Performs all IT work using the IT SOS 'To Do' list
* Logs time and enters detailed descriptions of work performed
* Takes direction from IT dispatcher (help desk or management) and
performs work duties under their direction even if different from
assigned 'To Do' list
* Refers direct client calls for service to the help desk for logging
and dispatching to appropriate IT technical resource
* Accepts emergency client calls for service outside Help Desk hours
(M-F 8-5pm) and logs as an SOS Emergency
* Documents task in the SOS system and notifies IT Help Desk when
equipment is installed, moved or changed
* Responds to user help calls by working on highest priority
assignments dictated by "To Do" lists from the SOS system
* Notifies and completes appropriate procedures for the IT Help Desk
when equipment is installed, moved or when software is changed
* Creates, maintains and follows written documentation standards
pertaining to operations, applications and network
* Builds, installs, troubleshoots and repairs PC's, and servers as
required
* Accepts dispatched SOS jobs, enters estimated hours for tasks,
updates progress hours for tasks daily before leaving shift
* As required, may assist PC Technicians in taking daily backup tapes
to offsite storage
* Creates, maintains and adheres to written documentation pertaining
to operations, applications and network
* Interacts with vendors for equipment or software price quotes
* Knows I/T priorities
* Prepares technical implementation plans that provide integrated
solutions including actions, milestones, timelines and critical paths
required for complete solutions
* Determines, develops and implements written IT documentation and
standards
* Uses independent thinking to determine strategy for deploying
network changes
* Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct
system operation
* Performs user training in use of equipment, software, and manuals
* Informs I/T management of all problems concerning IT functionality
* Other duties as assigned
AUTHORITY & RESTRICTIONS (supervisory capacity, signatory ability,
access to sensitive areas, gaming /tipping restrictions)
* Access to company administrative personal computer systems and
programs.
* Access to telecommunications system.
* Access to highly sensitive information; confidentiality agreement
required, C3 Gaming license required.
* No Gaming or Tip accepting in the Facility at any time.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (objective educational or technical training
required; skills; and years of experience):
* BS degree from a four year college
* Completion of an MCSE 2003 certification.
* Four years MCSE experience working in complex network environments
* Four years experience designing, implementing and managing complex
TCP/IP networks
* Three years experience building and troubleshooting PC's, servers
and managed switching equipment preferred
* Three years experience configuring, installing and implementing HP
Procurve switches preferred
* Three years experience configuring, installing and implementing
VMWare servers preferred
* Two years experience configuring, installing and implementing Mitel
3300 IP Phone systems preferred
* Two years experience configuring, installing and implementing IBM
Director software preferred
* Two years experience configuring, installing and implementing
Hewlett-Packard EVA storage arrays
* Aristocrat Gaming, MICROS POS and OPERA server installation and
setup experience highly desirable
* Extensive experience using TCP/IP protocol including routing,
switching, subnets and VLANS
* Experience configuring, installing and troubleshooting DNS
* Extensive experience with Windows 2000/2003 servers and Exchange
2000/2003/2007 administration
* Experience tracking and reporting on network traffic and
utilization
* Experience tracking and reporting on user network access and
permissions
* Highly organized individual
* Superior knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint)
* Extensive experience installing, troubleshooting and administering
PC Windows 2000/XP operating systems
* Experience pluses; Solarwinds, Forefront, Airmagnet, Ingate,
Sonicwall, Bit9, WinDSX, Belmanage, Symantec Antivirus and backup
Enterprise edition, Hyena, DameWare, MXLogic, ComCash, Smartconnect
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability
to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak
effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability
to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar
graphs
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization
exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
* Must pass and remain in compliance with Coquille Gaming Commission
background check and drug free work place policies
