Hi,
I found on the internet that you can use the option+e combination to
put accents like ????? and option+n for ?. I was wondering if there is
a better way to do this? In Ubuntu for example, you change the layout
of the keyboard and you can switch back and forth depending on your
needs. I find it very annoying to type the combinations every single
time I want to write accents.
Thanks for the help,
Alejandro A.
Take a look at the options found in System Preferences / International /
Input Menu
I did it, and I tried the two Spanish layouts and the English extended
and none worked. In other systems there is something called English
international, so the keyboard layout has the same configuration as
the English one, but you can put accents on letters after specific key
strokes. Is there something like this in Mac OS? If there is, it is
hidden somehow because I couldn't find it.
Your question seems to contradict your OP... did you want a keyboard
layout or the key commands?
You can do either: leave your keyboard layout as the default and learn
the shortcuts. They use a system called "dead key strokes", and are
quite intuitive. For example, before you type a vowel, press option-u
to add an umlaut. Check out Keyboard Viewer to see them all - they
appear as a special coloured key.
Or you can switch your keyboard layout to the appropriate language
and just type (almost) as you would do in that country.
