I've been using that. I'll second the recommendation.

I'm using iStat menus right now and everything _seems_ normal heat-wise,
but then again I'm unsure what is too hot (advice appreciated :-) ) and
I also wonder how accurate these built in sensors are.

Anyway, the slowdowns are the least of my troubles. Worse are all the
following intermittent (making it a bitch to troubleshoot) problems:
partial freezes of the OS with network activity ceasing, disk images
suddenly not unmounting, hangs on restart/shutdown, dock and menulet
graphics becoming corrupted, iPod mounting and reading trouble, and
permissions issues affecting overwriting admin-level files that ONLY
happen the first time I try to authenticate and say 'yes, I really do
want to overwrite this'... etc, etc. None

I mean - it would be nice to have a top of the line iMac that can play a
HD video or World of Warcraft without stuttering, but returning to my
Mac to find it still running ok is more valuable to me right now :-D

Good thing I've not lost my sense of humor, eh? :-)

Also - and this is sad of me :-D - but I find I've been hiding my Mac
troubles from friends and family. I'm used to THEM being the ones having
trouble *sigh* I might also have boasted once or twice over the years
that my Macs typically 'just work'. Oh tragic irony!

Even funnier is my blog. In November last year I raved about ordering my
new top of the line glass and aluminum iMac and how sweet it would be,
then once I had received it I began to document the unboxing of my iMac
in great detail (I know - I'm such a nerd!) and how impressed I am just
with the packaging alone... then I turn it on... the blog stops. Because
mere minutes later my brand new iMac froze in System Preferences. My
troubles had begun...

Heh, oh well...
