Go with option 1. Drives are cheap; buy a great big one.

The n spec for wireless isn't fixed yet, and I bet you won't see any
real differences over g anyway.

Depends what you're using it for. I routinely do transfers ranging from
dozens of MB to a GB or two among machines. Going through an n router to
a wired (Gb) machine, my MacBook is *much* faster than my mini.

I generally use target disk mode or a pocket FW HD for the GB-size
transfers; n is fast enough that it's not worth sneakernet lag for
transfers of a few hundred MB.
