I am running OS X 10.4.11 on a MacBook with 1 GB RAM. Last night, I set
it to Sleep, but this morning, it would not awaken. Consequently, I had
to do a forced restart. After I restarted, the hard drive icons would
not appear on the Desktop. I checked another account and the icons
appeared as I expected. What do I need to do to reset the Desktop in OS
X to restore the icons in that account?
Change the finder preferences.
Don
I am still running 10.4.10 on two G4s. This same thing happened to me
recently. Don't know why and never figured it out why it occurred.
But yes, just go the the FINDER preferences, and make certain the check
boxes are checked for hard disks to show (in my case in both sidebar and
desktop). For unknown reasons, both checkmarks were toggled off. It
worked for me to just toggle them back on. I like having my hard drives
showing on desktop and in the sidebar.
