Mail Signature Causing Unexpected Quits

I use a G4 iMac running 10.4.10. The signatures in my business email
accounts include a graphic of the company logo. I've done this
successfully for a few years without incident.

This morning, without warning, Mail Quit unexpectedly when I clicked on
one of these mailboxes and then clicked New. This is a repeatable
action. Mail does not Quit when I click New with any other account
selected, just the accounts that use a signature that has a graphic item.

Has anyone experienced this? Why would this occur out of the blue after
a couple of years of success?

Thank you.
