What I don't understand is why I couldn't send email from other
accounts that are on my business server (not Comcast). I can send
email from these accounts now, even though I did not make changes to
their respective settings.

Could it be that you receive mail through the business server, but send
it through comcast's server?

Hi Michelle,

Perhaps you can help me find the answer since I'm not sure what it is.

Comcast is my ISP for my home.
My wife and I have six personal email accounts through Comcast.

AT&T is my ISP for my business.
I have one email account through AT&T which I do not use.

Verio hosts my business website and email. I have six email accounts
and a website through Verio. Being a small business, the email traffic
is very low. Therefore, I check business email on my home iMac from
work via VNC. Plus, this reduces the probability of receiving a virus
on the business Windoze machine.

I have configured Mail on my home iMac for all twelve email accounts:
six personal accounts through Comcast, and six business accounts through
Verio. The Comcast account outgoing and incoming server addresses are
different from the Verio account server addresses. Even through Comcast
provides the wire to my house, doesn't Mail still route the email
through the respective Comcast or Verio email servers? i.e. If I send
or receive an email through my business email account from at home,
doesn't Mail use the Verio email server even though Comcast is providing
the wire to my house? Or is my analysis incorrect? If I send email
from home from a business email account, does the data get routed
through the Comcast servers? I don't know.

Your thoughts?

Thank you.
