I am trying to set up disk quotas to limit the size of a couple of
users' home folders. I am using 10.4.10 client (not Server.)
I implemented disk quotas on the kids by creating a separate
partition for each of them. Then create their accounts, move
the contents to their partitions, change the home dir path in NetInfo.
Thanks. I did think of that but am hesitant to do the partition thing.
With managed users' disk quotas on the boot volume, unused quota is
available to the System and to other users. Not so with giving user
folders their own partition. Also, I might want to change the quota size
at some point. With software managed disk quotas this should take only a
few seconds. Repartitioning and restoring from backups is a time
consuming PITA.
Thanks for the suggestion, though! I might just take your advice if I can't
figure out the other method.
