Nice try, but you can't execute the binary from the GUI. You can do that

I guess I can't either support or dispute you without defining
"execute from," "binary," and "GUI."
When you use the Dock to launch FireFox, a subsequent "ps -auxww"
will show something like /Internet/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -psn_0_4325400
to me, that shows that Dock did "execute" that binary.
What FireFox does with that number, if anything, I do not know.
But every app gets one.
Making up a number with the same digit-length for a command line launch works (as far as I can see) exactly the same as leaving it out.
Inventing such a number, inventing a different command line switch,
or using only the filename, all result in apparently normal behavior
and "ps -auxww" shows exactly what you invoked--nothing creates the psn
you left out. No complaints about me making up a switch, although
the app DOES have a stderr output (somethings wrong with the Adobe plug-in)
/Internet/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -help
prints a list of other possibly useful options!
But this list does NOT include anything starting with -psn
