As I see it, there are two approaches to a new OS/GUI/??? - one can

Aye, I already acknowledged that this wasn't the best angle to be
coming from.

If one approaches the Mac with the intention of disliking it, then
one will usually be successful. Xen says he tried it, and he didn't
like it. That's good enough for me.

I've like tried it for 15 minutes. All I remember is that I felt like
using Vim without knowing how it works, and I was doing something to
the windows and then my friend stepped in and prevented me from
messing up her window setup any further. But in any case, others here
have mentioned that it took them quite some time to get used to the
Mac, so my first impression is probably not worth much.

While I don't think that Xen is a troll per se, I have generally
found that those who adopt the "prove it to me" pose stick around
just long enough to realize that they weren't quite as clever as
they thought (and that the "Mac Fanboys" weren't quite as dumb as
they had assumed), and then disappear without a trace.

I'll disappear without a trace whatever my inital pose ;). I came here
with the true intent of finding out if I will find the Mac to be a
pleasant and productive experience.

My feeling is that responding to this sort of post has a faint
smell of desperation, as if we felt we needed to convince
anyone with even a slight interest in the Mac that it was a
"worthy" platform. My assumption is that xen is a smart
enough person that if he wants access to a Mac and/or
documentation to do his own analysis, he can do so.

Yeah well, I had already spent some time browsing websites like the
Apple website without finding any good information, and after a while
you just tire of it and head for the newsgroups.

While there has been some technical content to this thread,
comparisons of Macs vs other operating systems are properly
restricted to c.s.m.advocacy.

Aight, my apologies.
