The QuickTime Pro registration info is stored in
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.QuickTime.plist.
Thanks for the answer!
As y'all predicted, no change in symptoms after "un-pro'ing".
what are the issues
Streaming videos of keynote speeches from Apple's web site have no audio:
<http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwsf07/>
<http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/d7625zs/event/>
These are H.264 video format (can't seem to find what audio format they use).
Other H.264 I have tried elsewhere on the 'net play fine in QT.
Other QT content (movie trailers, etc.) from the Apple web site plays fine.
No other apps seem affected. Movie trailers at Apple.com and QT movies I have
viewed in iTunes play OK.
A little history: Within a few days' period I installed the 7.2 update for QT
using Software Update, upgraded to "Pro", installed Perian codec, and
installed the MPEG-2 codec from Apple. I noted the symptoms soon after.
Searching for a possible plug-in conflict, I've dragged different plug-ins
out of the Internet Plug-Ins folder and restarted QT. No change.
Downloaded QT 7.2 from Apple web site and re-installed. No change.
(Is there an uninstaller for QT?)
My last drastic measure: I executed an "Archive and Install" of OS X
installer. Problem persists.
Is there a 3rd option: moving certain QT components from my back-up drive
(backup contains a version of the OS prior to these problems)?
What folder should I be focusing on regarding possible conflicts of video and
audio components?
OS X 10.4.10, Firefox 2.0.0.6, Safari 2.0.4, QT 7.2 (non-Pro)
