Amen! So often there are kb shortcuts available and they are not even
displayed in the drop down Menus. Why we are kept in the dark is just
another example of Apple's irritating mouse-centric way of thinking.
Well point-and-click is a fundamental aspect of the whole GUI
paradigm as implemented in both Mac and Windows operating systems.
It is pretty good in general but when you are typing away on the
keyboard (as opposed to say "drawing" with the mouse) it can be
annoying to have to move your hand to the mouse and back simply
toggle a control. That is why I still prefer non-GUI apps for
many things. When I am doing email, or posting to Usenet, or
chatting on IRC, or editing a file (mutt, slrn, irssi, vim)
the mouse is pretty much redundant and I can get stuff done
quickly and efficiently using only the keyboard.
Windows has the navigation thing down quite well and it would great if
Apple took some lessons from them. An OS needs to cater to both kb
and mouse users.
