iTunes self-launching

Came home last night and woke up the beast (G4/500 1.5G RAM 10.4.10).
Repeatedly, over the next 15-20 mins, iTunes 7.3.2 launched itself,
waiting
anywhere from 45 secs to 2+ min to do so from Quit.

I quit all applications and waited, thinking perhaps some other app was
sending a request or that I inadvertently hit an unknown
short-cut/key-combo.

Sure enough, appx 2-1/4 min later it launched.
I quit it and launched Activity Monitor, hoping to catch the mystery
process in action. I sat and waited ... 1 min ... 2 min ... 5 mins ...
nothing. Of course not. I guess it was either tired out or shy.

So - any thoughts on what happened?
