seem to be much Mac developer work on the market but maybe for
freelancing it would be good to be qualified. I was thinking

I would be interested in a home-based training course if one was
available.
Reading legacy source code and problem-solving are nearly as important as coding skills, or toolset experience.
Certification is important for those clients that have a checkbox that must be filled out. In these cases many clients will help you get that certification if they want you for other reasons.
I'll go out on a limb and say that this specific certification is unnecessary for the majority of current and wannabe Apple product developers.
