It's obvious you don't know enough to be making these kinds of changes without learning more.
Changing the short name of a user account is anything but simple. There are many things you must do to make that work. Please see <http://homepage.mac.com/frakes/ChangeShortName.html>.
Also, there's really no need for you to enable or change the password for the root account to begin with. Anything you need to do can be done with "sudo" from an administrator account.
Given your level of experience, and assuming you have backed up your important data, I'd say the easiest and fastest way to recover from the changes you've made would be to simply re-install the operating system and restore your data from backup at this point.
