If you take an action, be prepared to take the consequences of that action.
It was entirely predictable that doing what Galilei did would have
consequences. In fact, not only was it predictable, it was _predicted_... and
the consequences it did have were far less than what coudl have happened if
he hadn't _still_ had friends in high places. (See further Bruno, for
example.) Apparently he thought that those friends would be able to shield
him from the consequences... he was wrong.

Of course, you would know all about being wrong.
