Using rsync on 10.3.9 for backup?

I have been thinking about using rsync for backup to an external
FireWire drive on a Mac G4. Has anyone had problems doing this when it
came time to restore things? I would be interested in people's
experiences doing this. This is for a workstation and I would like to
set-up a cron job to run daily to do an rsync to backup what has
changed or been added. Thanks!
