Such is surely the mark of one who is lazy and incompetent; and if one
is lazy and incompetent in one setting, then why should you suppose that
he is any less lazy, or any less incompetent, in a different setting?

one word: scope. your analogy is a false one. online, particularly in
usenet discussions, there is very little at stake. not a career, not a
reputation, and certainly not anyone's physical safety. therefore, a
cost analysis says: proper grammar isnt important.

however, in the RW, there is much more to lose by cutting corners.
your boss' favor, what your neighbors think of it, and your physical
well-being.

that is why your unfounded hypothesis has no leg to stand upon.
