Well, I think you are misleading yourself when you say that "I have a
computer-to-computer network...". The word "have" there is the
misleading one. If you phrase that as "I see a computer-to-computer
network..." then perhaps it will make more sense. Note the word "see"
instead of "have". What is happening is that your computer can see such
a network. That doesn't mean it has anything to do with your computers
except that it is within range of them. Odds are that it is a network of
one of your neighbors.

If you lived in a more crowded area like where my new business is, you'd
see lots of networks there - everything that was in range. I regularly
see half a dozen or so.

BTW, what is a computer to computer network?

A network that just connects computers directly without having a
separate network hub. That's basically for sharing things between two
computers without having to connect either one to the rest of the
internet (or any other net). "Normally" your computer is a client and
connects to a network set up by a network hub/access-point/whatever. But
you can tell your computer to instead create its own network, where your
computer acts as the hub. I've never happened to use it, but it can be a
handy way to transfer files between two laptops without needing any
outside "help".

what can i do about this, shall i change my password or something???
have they got access to my files etc....

No. Just don't join that network. See the first para of my response.
