Hard to do when you're on dialup. But software update does allow
you to "Download only" and then you can install by double-clicking
on the package.

Wow. I'm surprised anyone is still on dial-up these days. Even my
82-year-old grandfather is on cable.

You might want to check around your area to see if local DSL/cable
companies offer low-cost, slower-speed services. In more and more
areas lately, cable and DSL providers are offering services that are as
cheap (or alost as cheap) as dial-up service. They are usually on the
very slow end of the spectrum, in terms of speed, for DSL/cable
connections, but they are usually faster than dial-up connections, and
the always-on, digital connection is sooooo much better than any
dial-up connection on the planet!

Where I'm living isn't the end of the world, but on a clear day, if you
look in the right direction, you can see it from here...

In other words, my *ONLY* option for digital/wideband type connectivity
is satellite, which is A) Too expensive and B) After having spent the
last 6 months using Hughesnet AKA "DirecPC", it *JUST PLAIN SUCKS* for
several reasons that I don't feel like bothering to do the typing to go
into. "FAP" being the biggest, but several others as well.

Which pretty much leaves me dial-up or nothing.

(And no, I'm *NOT* moving to "the big shitty" for the sake of
other-than-dial-up access)
