mac isolated on network

i have never had a problem connecting to or from my mac os x.4 before,
but recently, she steadfastly refuses to log on to any of the several
shares in my workgroup, and neither can the other machines (xp, vista,
windows 2003) connect to her.

when i go from the otheres I get a request for user name and password
which does not work, not even the root user name or my usual log in.

when i try to connect to the others i receive "could not connect ...
because the name and password are not correct" but they are correct. I
use them on the other machines every day!

dont know why..

I will try a new user name and password see if this
