I just got a Mac Classic at a thrift store, and I was pretty excited
about it, but as I started the computer up, and it loaded up all these
various things, it gave me a screen with a bomb on it telling me that
there wasn't enough memory.
This is a classic sign (sorry for the pun) that an extension or control
panel is misbehaving. Restart the computer with the Shift key held
down until you see the message "Extensions Disabled" and let the Shift
key back up. Then look for the Extensions Manager control panel - if
it's there load up the "Mac OS * Base" or "Mac OS * Full" set to
disable all third-party (non-Apple) extensions and control panels, then
restart again.

Thanks for all the info everyone but it's still not working!
Is there any reason that holding the shift key would NOT do anything?
I just tried restarting the computer with the shift key held down and
there was no effect. It continued to load various things and then run
out of memory. I am able to move the mouse around after the error
message, and that is plugged into keyboard, so I think the connection
is ok. I don't know, maybe it is possible that the keyboard is letting
the mouse work, but none of the keys work?
Bad keyboard would be my first test. Can you access a diferent ADB
keyboard?
If there's an Apple User Group in your area someone may be able to help
with that.
