Converting to Appleworks

I have a bunch of Microsoft Works database files I hope to convert to
Appleworks. It was suggested that I could translate them using MacLink
Plus, then open them in Appleworks, but about the only thing that I can
get to happen is to open the database as a TEXT file. Is there a way I
can create an OSX database with files created under OS9? With the
demise of Classic mode and my needing a new computer, this is very
important.

Direct email very much appreciated. Thanks!
