Mac OS X Samba D-Link DSM-G600

Help!!!
I've been at this for weeks (on and off) and just can't get it to work.

I'm trying to connect my iMac G5 with OS X 10.4.7 to my D-Link DSM-G600 (Rev A1) Network Attached Storage device.

I have no problem connecting to the DSM-G600 from Windows XP Professional.

I have no problem connecting to the DSM-G600 from SUSE Linux 10.1.

I can connect from OS X to Windows XP shares.

I can connect from OS X to SUSE Linux Samba shares.

But I cannot for the life of me connect from OS X to DSM-G600 shares. It keep asking me for a password, but there is no password. Then it says my password is incorrect.

I swear I've tried everything under the sun.

Any thoughts? It would be great if someone else has actually been successful here. The docs for the DSM-G600 even show how to connect from OS X. Only problem is it does not work..

I can ping it. I can see it in Bonjour. I can even configure it. I can see it as a member of the network in the WORKGROUP folder. When I click on it it asks me for my workgroup or domain name (set as MSHOME, but I change it to WORKGROUP), my user (which I leave as FRANK) and my password (which I don't enter, since there isn't one). It then gives me an error saying "The alias 'Dsm-G600' could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found."

If I try it more directing using Connect To Server I get "Could not connect to server because the name or password is not correct". But there is no password! Or user name, for that matter. I also tried the user name ADMIN, which is what the Install Guide says and have the same result.

I just have this feeling that it's an OS X issue. But what, I have no idea...

Thanks for any help!
Frank
