Well, I searched a LOT and asked questions of telecoms suppliers
and it seems there's not much chance. However, as I explained, I was
ready to live with that it was the impudence of the machine then
telling me to connect to the internet which sent me over the top.

Don't know about Germany, I don't read German too well.

Also, while we're looking at the headers... he's posting using Google Groups,
which means that he could have Googled if he'd wanted to, and he's posting
from a WinBox. From the looks of the T-Online webpage, T-Online is related to
T-Mobile in the US. (Look at the logo...)

T-Mobile used to be the Mobile arm of Deutsche Telekom, of which
T-Online was the ISP. I think Telekom still owns most of the other
two, but if you think I'm daft enough to use a current address to
access USENET, well, I have been here for about 15 years you know ;-)

He didn't want to actually find something which would work, he just wanted to
troll.

If you say so. I really hope there will be a card along soon. My
provider offered me some box thing which he didn't seem to have much of
a clue about either but said the technical people would talk me through
installing it. He didn't seem convinced it would with a Mac though.

Maybe I just have to get used to the fact that, like when I got my
first home computer, I'm now in the twilight zone...

Cheers
