I've got the formatted HD back in and inserted the 9.2 CD. The machine
stays on and is reading the CD, from what I can hear. The screen has
been dark for about 10-15 minutes now, how long before I should see
signs of life?
Thanks,
Jamie

Hi all,
I am an IT developer new to Macs. I am in my department at work testing
an iMac I just bought for my young son. It came with 9.2 installed and
this morning I was upgrading to 10.2. While installing this, a tech
came in and suggested I go straight to OS10.3. I asked if I needed to
wait for 10.2 to install and he immediately unplugs the iMac. Thinking
he would pop out the 10.2 CD and insert and boot off of the 10.3 CD, he
tried this. It powered on then powers off after about 10 seconds.
We've tried various commands keyboard commands and one time we were
able to reset the PRAM and heard three chimes.
We've tried booting off of the 10.3 disc, 10.2 disc and 9.X disc. No
luck. The plan is to remove the hard drive and try and wipe it and
re-install something.
Any ideas?
Don't let that tech near any more computers. What an idiot.
Which model iMac is it? Can you boot into Open Firmware?
