I've just re-installed OS X under the "Archive and install" option which just
re-installs the OS and leaves all other files intact. The process went like
a dream and everything is running well. On the HD there is now a directory
called "Previous Systems". Is it oK to delete this? What a wonderful simple
process after Windows.
AT LAST !!
Common sense prevais !
Apple goes to a considerable length to expain why and how to carry out
re-installing System. Why ? So some of this boarrd's posters can
condemn it? I don't think so !!
BEFORE major disk problems occur-
Use Disk Utility from either the Sytem Disk or another Hard Drive to
REPAIR.
If srill problems, reload Sysrem from Sysrem Disk.
Remember, OSX based on UNIX may be very stable, but is not invunerable.
Also, hard drives are not exactly perfect in operration. In addition,
"nasties" from the internet can easily corrupt your hard disks.
Thanks,
Ernie Lee
