connectivity trouble after network failure

One of our network switches died over the weekend, and now all of our
Macs are having trouble connecting to our local Windows servers. I
fixed the switch, so the Macs have connectivity, but it's not back 100%
yet. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
Here's what works and what doesn't.
1) Browsing to local servers through Network>Local>Servername: YES
2) Using "Connect to..." afp://servername: NO
3) Using "Connect to..." smb:\\servername: YES
4) Using "Connect to..." afp://192.168.1.13 YES
5) Ping servername: NO
6) Ping IP address: YES
7) Ping/connect to http://mail.servername.com (locally hosted): YES
8) Ping/connect to http://servername (usually works just like 7): NO
9) Browse the web: YES
I would say that the problem lies solely in DNS resolution, but I have
no trouble connecting through SMB.
Any thoughts? I'm at a loss. The Windows computers seem to be doing
fine.
