I concur with the CRT idea, but he doesn't need to return the monitor;
instead he could have the best of both worlds by having a dual-monitor
setup. My main rig has three monitors because I don't believe one monitor
can do all. I use a 30" Apple Cinema Display for laying out complex work,
a 19" CRT (aperture grille) for accurate color work, and a 17" CRT (shadow
mask) for general web-surfing and e-mail. Only one monitor is switched on
at any one time.
