o your point though, I don't recall iTMS telling, warning or
otherwise notifying me before I paid for the movie that I
couldn't burn it to DVD using the normally well-integrated iLife
suite or any other typical application. But, I didn't do the
background research myself to ask either. Based upon how easy
it is normally to move photos, music and videos around with
iDVD, iMovie, Garageband, iTunes, etc. I never even considered
it being hamstrung that badly.
I suppose knowing that the videos would be coming with DRM certainly
suggested to me that, by definition, there would be some restrictions on
usage.
If a work-around to burn to DVD comes up I would be trying it out for my
own curiosity and personal use. That would break the rules, no doubt,
but since I don't intend to redistribute copyright material for personal
gain I can't see anyone bothering to track me down! Unfortunately there
*will* be people who rip off the videos - and that's what copyright
holders fear, and is why they insist on only making their material
available on well managed services which can apply DRM ... such as the
ITMS.
