In Google's defence, this is simply untrue.
Google has an excellent way of displaying and using threads.

Google has a pretty decent way of displaying and using threads. MacSOUP
has an excellent way.

It is mostly nntp users that don't use threading.
Why else whine about no quoting instead of just looking at the parent?
Do you not realize that replies have a parent?

It's up to the poster to put in the effort for people to understand the
post in context. Why should all the people reading the post have to
make an extra effort instead of the one person making the post?

Are you not capable of reading the parent without having it repeated?

If the post is done properly, there would simply be no need. And we're
not talking about _repeating_ the parent, we're talking about _quoting_,
which means editing so that the reader gets the context and knows
precisely what the response is referencing. Simply repeating the entire
parent is almost as bad as not quoting at all.
