Yes, I figured that in the meantime. And somewhere buried in the package, there are several PDF files in different languages. I dragged one of them out of the package, and bingo, it worked as a simple PDF file.

So somehow this .app thing is an application wich detects the system language and fires up the appropriate PDF file. Strange.
